Shanghai Key Laboratory of Meteorology and Health was established in November 2011. Approved by Shanghai Science and Technology Committee, the laboratory has been listed in the 2011 New Shanghai Key Laboratory Plan. The overall objective of the laboratory is to study the impact of weather, climate and environment on human health, to effectively prevent and reduce the harm caused by climate and environmental conditions on public health and safety of life. The main research is about: (1) weather and health; (2) climate and health; (3) atmospheric environment and health; (4) health meteorology forecasting and services. The managerial system of the lab is laboratory director responsibility system, it has one director and one deputy director. Since the project was established, the lab brought in reseach effort in medicine, atmospheric environmental studies, meteorology and other related areas.
